I had a lot of reservations about this post…I’ve spent the past two years perfecting this website and putting forth this beautiful brunch and terrific traveling site that holds everything I love. It’s been a really hard week, but I feel like not posting this would be against my mission. I definitely think I’m going to take this site in a newer and fresher direction but for now…
“I eat cake because it’s somebody’s birthday somewhere.”
And at Disney, it’s literally always someone’s birthday. You can tell by the green and blue celebrating pins that adorn the shirts of children and adults alike. It’s a proud pin and a special label of sorts. But, if I’m having to be honest, it wasn’t my birthday.
The hell with it, I’m gonna eat cake!
Today on my food tour, we stopped at Australia. The land down under had the best little treats I think I’ve had this far. I had a wonderful Lamington and paired it with a nice Shiraz.
So, wtf is a Lamington? I had no idea. It’s actually a yellow cake dipped in chocolate and shredded coconut. While I don’t use coconut oil to solve all of my problems, if you put it on any sweet something, I will be over the moon!
Now, I’m not a huge red wine connoisseur and I would definitely take a glass of bubbles instead. But, part of being an adult is growing up and trying new things. So, with a toast to adulting, I tried the Robert Oatley McLaren Vale Shiraz and was surprised. I have never had a red so sweet and it didn’t give me a headache. Baby steps, I’m just now branching out away from whites and bubbles.
But after an exciting visit to the land down under, I needed to go south of the border…
Hannah was a guest of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. As always, all opinions are my own.
